Mario was raised on a farm, and has been a construction worker, oilfield worker, teacher and has lived overseas. His passions include being a father, horsemanship, literature, gardening and woodworking.
Mario’s counselling career began with helping victims of sexual abuse. Rates of sexual abuse in Canada are alarming by any measure. Healing for any community is difficult when anyone is left out. Observing that there exists a scarcity of mental health services for males, Mario decided to address this by creating Men’s Soul Counselling Service.
Mario believes that the qualities of true masculinity include humility, generosity and stewardship. Expressions of aggression are clues that a man is trying to cope with fear and vulnerability. Men are more often than not the victims of overt and covert masculine socialization. When the better version of ourselves, our true soul emerges, it will be a better day for men, women, children, and people of all gender and sexual identifications.
